Aims & Activities

A brief account of the activities is as follows. The donation of blood shall be completely and free. The donors will be encouraged to come to the center and donate blood. Apart from this, three is a fully equipped vehicle, which is being used while conducting blood donation camps outside the complex. The blood collected will then be separated into its components such as RBC, Platelets, Plasma, and Clotting factors, Imunoglobulin. Albumin etc. and stored in the center, later to be given away to the needy. The price to be charged from the patient shall be the cost of the production, and if possible, it will be partly subsidized.

Bleeding is entirely voluntary; there is no paid donorship. The processing cost is borne by the user. Whole blood transfusion will be minimized, and instead, component transfusion shall be encouraged. The concept of component transfusion envisages the separation of blood into its components and only the needed component will be transfused. Blood is also collected in the periphery by way of voluntary blood-donation camps.

In the coming years, the center will act as a nucleus to inculcate a blood donating culture among the population. The complex will also provide blood bank training for doctors and technicians. The research wing attached to the center will conduct research in blood related diseases, their prevention and management. The activities of the Center also envisage the establishment of a modern tissue bank. Ultimately, this center intends to become an institute of blood sciences.

The main and immediate aims of the organization can be stated as follows.

  1. To supply the needed quantity of blood of the needed kind to the needy at the needed hour.
  2. To wipe out the shortage of blood from this part of the world.
  3. To popularize component transfusion instead of whole blood transfusion.
  4. Educate people towards a regular, voluntary blood donation culture.
  5. To conduct research in blood sciences.

Already efforts are underway to make the entire population Blood Group literate. As part of this, blood groups of the populace will be determined and the computerized data will be kept at the center.
